Thoughts on courses with multiple languages?
by Russell England - Wednesday, 22 July 2020, 4:16 AM

I worked in Belgium a few years ago and I vaguely remember that we stopped using the multi-language content filter for courses. I think we separated courses into their own languages, and categories, because it was easier to maintain. But used the filter elsewhere across the site for blocks etc.

Just wondered what the thoughts were for other multi-lingual sites?

Hi Russell

I think the multi language filter is Ok for small items of course content such as headings but anything more is hard to maintain and may also reach character limits.

Another way to do this is to add content in the same course and use Access restriction for the course activities or topics by the user's language . Course completion could be achieved by completing either language's activity or through a course grade.
