Totara 15: Date format in the Program due date notifications

Hello everyone,

We need your help and advices on the below:

We are using the variable [assignments:due_date] in our Program due date notifications and the format of the dates in our system are in US format.

In the email the user receives, the date is displayed like this: 02/03/2022. This is confusing for some international users as they could interpreted the date in either of the following ways: Is it due on Feb. 3 or March 2?

Could you please help if there is a way to display the date as follows: 3 February 2022, instead of 02/03/2022. the month to be displayed in words so that it is not confusing for the users, when they receive the email?

In Totara 15 the date format for the notification should be set to what the user's preferred language.

if you change the language for the Assigned learner to English (US) then the format should change to mm/dd/yyyy

You can change the dateformat in the language files to match your desired format.

In some cases you need to put the following in your config file, at least in my experience, when changing the date format:

$CFG->nofixday = true;
