One of our offices wants to ask learners who register for an event to provide more information (mode of transportation in this case) at sign-up. If I add a custom field to sign-up settings at site level, however, this is also added to every event in the system.

Is there a way for course creators to have the capability to hide or adjust these custom fields at seminar or event level? (not site level)?

Hi Jennifer

There is a feature request for this TL-10676 that is discussed in https://totara.community/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=19132

A possible work around would be to include another activity such as a Choice where this data can be collected. The activity could have an access restriction to a date or grade of the seminar activity.

regards

Hi Craig,

Adding a Choice activity would be a good addition, however, how can you ensure that the user fills this in? I understand how to restrict the access, but can we prompt that they need to complete the choice activity before they complete the registration?

I visited the feature request, but see that this is from 2019. I guess nothing has happened since then?

I appreciate your help, as our organization is asking to use this!

Hi jennifer

There isn't an option to make the choice activity compulsory or a prompt to come up - there is an option in the restrict access settings to show the access restriction then learners who do not meet the condition will see the restricted activity, but it will be greyed out/unable to be accessed, and will instead display information on why they can't access it yet.
