Reporting on courses completed outside of Totara

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can report on courses that are completed outside of Totara?

Some of our learners have to complete accredited courses that are run by external training companies.

We want learners to follow a pathway that contains mandatory external courses so that manager reports show they have completed the required learning and are competent in their role.

On paper the sequence would look like this:

Induction course (one off course on the platform) > External qualification course (one off course outside the platform) > Refresher courses (repeated each year on the platform)

We want to create a programme or certification that reflects this and recognises they may have completed both internal and external elements but necessarily on the platform.

The problem sees to be there is no way that a manager can verify the learner has completed an external course so the learner cannot then unlock the next course.

Is this right?

The only option so far seems to be to create a quiz so the learner can self certificate and be marked as complete.

Are their any other options to explore?

Does anyone recognise this scenario?

Thanks Amir. This looks useful however I am pretty sure the content will not have this kind of protocol as they are paid for courses.

The other option I guess is to use file manager to upload evidence of completion and then get the user to self certificate in some way.

Does anyone else have this issue?

We recently created a process regarding First Aid Certifications, which is normally attended and completed by staff external to our organisation. Staff are required to show evidence of completion by showing their Statement of Attainment and then our educators record attendance against a face-to-face activity in a First Aid course in Totara ('fully attended' = completed).

The course in Totara is aligned to a Certification in Totara, so when a staff member has been recorded as 'fully attended' in the F2F activity, their Next Due Date is automatically set to 3 years and the cycle continues. The certification reporting in Totara is great as it shows previous completions and next due dates, etc. We've got email notifications set up in the certification to alert the manager and staff member at certain periods throughout the process.

For other external courses completed by staff, we extract data from the supplier's system and manually upload to Totara on a monthly basis.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
