Data Feed with an Oracle Database Integration

Hi, every one just need to be sure If we set up a connection directly between Totara LMS database to an Oracle database from the HR client system If we could feed Totara with Organization, Position ans user Data just connecting to the Oracles DataBase.  If this last is possible what do we need to consider.

Or for feed Totara with Organization, postion and Data user we must and only use the Totara Sync.
