TOTARA Sync - Setting Organisation ID's in Bulk

Hi all,

This is a follow up to an earlier post, which was maybe a bit broad in it's scope!

With the move from 1.9 to 2.5 bulk association of users with organisations and positions is now handled by TOTARA Sync.

It is my understanding that Sync works on unique reference ID's that need to be associated with users, positions and orgs.

An issue I have is applying these ID's to Organisations in bulk (users have bulk upload, positions are a small number that can be processes manually).

We have circa 2000 Organisation entries and I cannot see a way to bulk update these via the Admin UI with these new unique ID numbers to enable them to be referenced via Sync.

Any guidance or information on achieving the above would be really welcome.

Hi Ben,

You can add an IDnumber to the organisation in the hierarchies and edit the organisation, but if you want to add them in bulk you can use the Totara Sync tool. This will allow you to upload all of your organisations, with IDnumbers via CSV.

Site admin > Totara Sync

You'll need to upload to and configure the organisation element.

Hi Maurice,

If you go into the Sync tool and configure the CSV source you will see the list of all the currently-available fields that can be imported. There are a couple of dozen altogether I think.

Hi Maurice,

What version are you on? In Totara Sync -> General Settings there is an option to set file access to Upload Files, then on the source configuration screen there will be a link to upload a new CSV file, then you can Run Sync to process it.
